KATJANA VADEBONCOEUR Katjana is a Seattle based director, performer and teaching artist. Seattle area directing credits include MR. MARMALADE, TITUS and SWIMMING IN THE SHALLOWS at Washington Ensemble Theatre (the latter which received a 2006 Seattle Times Footlight Award for Best Off-Broadway Production,) GIRL GONE, FIVE FLIGHTS and ALOHA, SAY THE PRETTY GIRLS as a guest director at Cornish College of the Arts, JANE EYRE as a guest director with the PATP graduate program at the University of Washington School of Drama, and Stranger Genius Paul Mullin’s new play TRIPTYCH in the Nexus Project at Next Stage. Katjana has also directed at Live Girls! Theater (FISSION, Seattle Times 2005 Footlight Award for Best New Play), Book-It Repertory Theatre’s Book-It-All-Over (SOSU'S CALL), Pierce College, the Mae West Fest, a national tour of THE ADVENTURES OF PETER RABBIT for California Theatre Center, and helmed readings at Live Girls!, Richard Hugo House and Seattle Public Library. Katjana was a resident teaching artist and staff member at Seattle Shakespeare Company for six years, where she directed MACBETH and AS YOU LIKE IT for the Short Shakes youth program, and appeared onstage as Brighella in SSC’s commedia del’arte production of THE SERVANT OF TWO MASTERS. She is also a company member of Living Voices, where she regularly tours the U.S. performing five solo shows, and has appeared at On the Boards in Washington Ensemble Theatre’s radical deconstruction of Hedda Gabler: blahblahblahBANG! and at numerous venues around town as her burlesque alter-ego “Cherry Manhattan”, including Bumbershoot's 2008 APOCALYPSE AT CONEY ISLAND at Seattle Rep’s Leo K. theater and the 2009 Seattle Erotic Art Festival. Katjana’s training also includes Suzuki with the Pacific Performance Project and modern experimental performance at Lancaster University in England. She is currently an adjunct instructor at Cornish College of the Arts. And has also taught theatre at the University of Washington, Pierce Community College, Seattle Center Academy, Eastside Preparatory School, and the Northwest School. Katjana was a Co-Artistic Director, resident director and PR/Marketing director at Washington Ensemble Theatre for four years, and was honored to be a featured artist in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer’s 2008 Fall Arts Guide. Katjana holds a theatre degree from the University of California at Irvine, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude.
