As producing director of Radial Theater Project, David Gassner directed the world premieres of Wayne Rawley's Beating Up Bachman, Vincent Delaney's 99 Layoffs, and Celene Ramadan's Karaoke Suicide is PainlessAs Artistic Director at Theater Schmeater (2007-2009), he directed Kvetch, The Mandrake, west coast premieres of Maria/Stuart and The American Pilot, and the world premiere of Mamet Schmamet! Other local directing credits include local premieres of The Happy Ones at Seattle Public Theater and Trout Stanley at Balagan Theatre, and new work with 14/48, ACT's Young Playwrights Project, and theater simple. As an actor he has appeared locally in Pony World's Suffering Inc., David Mamet's November at New City Theater, The Taming of the Shrew at Seattle Shakespeare/Wooden O, Death of a Salesman at CHAC, The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow at Seattle Public Theatre, and as the Hypnotist in Tim Crouch's An Oak Tree at Theater Schmeater. He played the Librarian in the Northern California premiere of Glen Berger's Underneath the Lintel. His career includes regional credits at Milwaukee Repertory Theatre and San Diego Repertory Theatre, as well as over 30 other roles in plays such as The Laramie Project, Sylvia, Noises Off, Oleanna, and Speed-the-Plow. He is currently directing the local premiere of Edith Can Shoot Things and Hit Them at Seattle Public Theater, and will reprise his roles in Seattle Shakespeare Company's The Taming of the Shrew this spring.
