Lea began her theater life as a singer and studied voice in Houston and Seattle. She has sung in Gilbert and Sullivan shows, Broadway musicals, children's theater, as well as with The Washingtonians. She has also ventured into comedy, studied improv, and worked with a comedy sketch group. She was a member of Next Step Theatre until 2003, when she went to the UK for two years to earn her Master�s in Early Celtic Studies. Lea is an editor and writer by day, and in her spare time writes poetry and plays. She has studied playwriting at Freehold with Elizabeth Heffron, Paul Mullen, and John Longenbaugh, and studied poetry with poets Kelli Russell Agodon, Susan Rich, and Elizabeth Austen. She is a member of the Dramatists Guild and President of the Board of DramaQueen, a nonprofit that supports women playwrights.
