Maricela is a performer (solo, stage, TV/Film), writer, director and artist born and raised in Los Angeles. She received her theater training at Los Angeles County High School for the Arts, and later, a Bachelor of Arts in Latino/a & Latin American Studies and Theater at Occidental College. In 2016, she wrote a full-length comedic drama, This is How the Pacheco Brothers Make Their Mama's Chicken Soup, which was performed as a workshop reading directed by Herbert Sigüenza (Culture Clash). The following year, she developed Las Tres Santas de Malinalli -- a solo performance acto that she presented as her senior thesis in Theater, and has continued to work on since. She received the Institute for the Study of Los Angeles Fellowship to remount and direct a workshop reading of Pacheco Brothers, and was awarded the Jack Bell Award for Outstanding Creative Achievement for her theory and praxis in Las Tres Santas de Malinalli. Maricela has acted in TV/Film and theater all over Los Angeles. She currently resides in Seattle, WA.
