Yena Han (YEH-nuh Hawn) was born in South Korea and moved to Seattle when she was two, and she began acting, singing, and dancing at the age of four. After graduating Magna Cum Laude from Rice University in Houston, Texas with a B.A. in Theatre and English, she is back in Seattle and pursuing a career as an actor, teaching artist, and web designer. She enjoys the challenge of expanding her range as a performer by switching between mediums and genres, and she takes an interdisciplinary approach towards her own artistic vision. Whether she is involved in experimental theatre, Shakespeare, musicals, TV, or film, she is fiercely passionate about utilizing the arts as a means of processing complex personal experiences and fostering connection. As a woman and a person of color, she believes that the way Asian Americans are portrayed in the media is often problematic, and there is still work to be done. Representation matters, and she is going to play a part in that representation. Ultimately, Yena strives to create a body of work that illuminates and engages with social justice in a way that is brave, playful, and transforming.
