Sarah Butts (she/her) is a freelance director, teaching artist and verbatim theatre maker. She holds an MFA Directing from University of California, Irvine and is an associate member of Stage Directors and Choreographers Society.  From 2004 - 2011 Sarah worked at Venture Theatre in Billings, Montana as Associate Artistic Director and Director of the Venture Conservatory. Companies she has worked with include Seattle Repertory, Village Theatre, Cornish College of the Arts, Mill Mountain Theatre, Southcoast Repertory Theatre, Utah Shakespeare Festival, Long Beach Playhouse, UC Irvine, Venture Theatre, Verge Theatre and Grandstreet Theatre. Sarah has written & directed several original verbatim- theatre works addressing mental health & stigma, public education, trauma, post 2016 presidential election and child loss & grief.   One such production, A Heart Without: Real Stories of Homelessness (Director) was recognized at the 2012 Institute for Children, Poverty, and Homelessness Conference in New York.
