Hello! I'm Laura Engels and I'm an actor in the Seattle area.
I am a graduate from Western Washington University. I received a BA in Theatre (Acting Concentration). My studies included vocal and textual analysis for classic and contemporary theatre as well as Suzuki, Viewpoints, Grotowski, compositional work, devising, and mask work.
After graduating I was chosen to apprentice at Actors Theatre of Louisville in their 2012-2013 season! During that time, I assisted in the mainstage shows and was an understudy for Sullivan in "Dracula." Along with working backstage, building sets and working with the costume department, my cohorts and I performed in various productions and projects of our own. All the apprentices also starred in a Humana Festival show written specifically for our group called "Sleep Rock Thy Brain," by Lucas Hnath, Rinne Groff and Anne Washburn.
Some recent credits include "Adoration of Dora" at the iDiOM Theatre, "Leaving Iowa" as a part of WWU's Summerstock, and "Talley's Folly" at the Mount Baker Theatre. While in Seattle, I have worked on "Something Incredible" as part of Annex's research and development wing as well as "Funhouse" at the Eclectic Theatre.
