Charlotte Tiencken Bio
Charlotte M. Tiencken is an Arts Administrator, Director, Producer and
Educator who has been working in the producing and presenting fields for 20
years. Before moving back to the Seattle area in September of 2003, she
was General Manager at Jacob�s Pillow Dance Festival in Massachusetts for
four seasons. Currently she is an adjunct faculty member at Seattle Central
Community College and at Lesley University in Cambridge, MA.
Hailing from Charleston, SC, Tiencken received her MFA in Children�s
Theatre and Directing from The University of Texas at Austin. Most recently in
the Northwest she was Producing Artistic Director at Tacoma Little Theatre in
Tacoma, WA. She was also Director of Programming at the Broadway Center
for the Performing Arts in Tacoma, WA, and Performing Arts Manager at The
Evergreen State College in Olympia, WA. She has worked as an artist in
residence for the New Orleans Public Schools in Louisiana and for the
Arkansas Arts Council in Little Rock, Arkansas. She has taught as a visiting
artist and lecturer at Southern Arkansas University, the Evergreen State
College and in elementary and high schools throughout Arkansas, and North
Carolina. Producing Theatre experience includes the Alabama Shakespeare
Festival in Montgomery and Spirit Square Center for the Arts in Charlotte, NC.
She has directed or produced over 70 plays.
Tiencken is a member of the Association of Performing Arts Presenters and is
past president of the board of Arts Northwest, the presenting service
organization for Washington, Idaho and Oregon. She has served on the
board of the Pat Graney Dance Company and sat on granting panels for the
Washington State Arts Commission. Currently, she is Past-
President of the Board of Theatre Puget Sound a regional service
organization for theatres in the Puget Sound area.
