Updated January 2019 -- Gretchen Douma is an experienced character actress with a resume that ranges from Shakespeare and American classics to fringe theater and experimental new works. Her most recent productions include Grief Dialogues: The Play (The Grief Dialogues), Shakespeare in Love (Seattle Shakespeare Company) and Arsenic and Old Lace (Taproot Theatre). Other credits include: Bea Stewart, No Strings Attached, (world premiere, Parley and Bitter Single Guy Productions); Sheila, Terra Incognita (world premiere, Annex Theatre); Lydia, Still Life (area premiere, Forward Flux); and Victoria,Three Viewings, (produced at TART and 18th and Union). She has also performed with ArtsWest, Bellevue Civic Theatre, 14/48 Projects, FringeACT, Live Girls!, Mae West Fest, Seattle Theatre Works, Second Story Repertory, Taproot Theater, Theater Anonymous and Valley Center Stage, to name just a few. Prior to settling in Seattle, she did extensive theater, film, and commercial work in the Twin Cities. Some other favorite past roles include Esther (First You Jump), Emma Cristano (Over the River and Through the Woods), Madame Arcati (Blythe Spirit), Mrs. Hardcastle (She Stoops to Conquer), Big Mama (Cat on a Hot Tin Roof), and Shirley Valentine (Shirley Valentine). She also recently completed her first two full-length plays -- Baby Talk and Ashes, Ashes, We All Fall Down -- under the guidance of Parley founder and Salvo instructor extraordinaire Rebecca Collingsworth-Tourino.
