Mark Waldstein moved here from the East Coast to help launch Redmond's SecondStory Repertory. Over the next ten years, he appeared on the SSR stage in dozens of shows, writing and directing there as well. In Seattle proper, he was seen in the Seattle premiere of Spring Awakening at Balagan Theatre; the Gregory Award-winning play Undo at Annex Theatre; The Salesman is Dead and Gone with the Splinter Group; and also with Book-It Repertory, Village Theatre, Sound Theatre, ReAct, Theater Schmeater, the 14/48 Festival, Theatre Anonymous, and Endangered Species Project. He has supplied character voices for video games and radio commercials; on camera, he has appeared for Microsoft, Providence Health, Amgen, and CapitolOne.
Most recently, Mark has added teaching into the mix -- specifically, using theater to work with students on the autism spectrum. The process of rehearsing a scene, playing improv games, or creating a short play through improvisation, gives these people much-needed social experiences; teaches the value of collaboration; and provides safe opportunities for self-expression. A graduate of the Washington State Teaching Artist Training Lab, Mark has taught at CHILD School, Bellevue College, Ryther, and the Alyssa Burnett Center for Adult Life at Seattle Children's Hospital.
