My undergrad theatre degree is from Northwestern College and my MFA in theatre performance and playwriting is from Cal Arts. I have taught classes and workshops to ages 3-80 for about 20 years now and been working in theatre for nearly thirty. I was an education director at a small community theatre for six years and I conduct theatre workshops at schools and ajudicate at festivals. Currently, I am the GreenStage Education Director and teach some camps for them. GreenStage is the longest running Shakespeare-in-the-park company in Seattle.
I am mainly a playwright and director in the last eighteen years. I work on independent projects in directing and I have written scripts specific to the venues that hired me. To get a list of the musicals and scripts I have written please contact me as I'm always writing and adding to that list. My have written 3 full-length Christmas scripts, a half a dozen one acts, 2 children's musicals, 1 full-length musical that my music writer is still working on the music, probably a baker's dozen ten minute plays and written with and for chidren so many short scripts of all stripes, I've lost count (and someday I'll get around to publishing them!).. I am most proud of the play I mounted in the 2013 Seattle Fringe Festival, Hunting Dinosaurs, it is a multi-character show about autism and dinosaurs and it was directed by Jane Ryan. It had a popular run. If interested in it, please contact me for more information. To see my award winning ten minute play Quickie go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KdnFjLpWnQc
I have directed many school and community theatre shows. My two shows I directed in the past couple of years were both at The Lights of Christmas Dinner Theatre at the Lights of Christmas Festival in Standwood, Christmas on the Tumblin' D and Back Home on the Tumblin' D both by local playwright Tori Ritchey and they both played to approximatly 2000 people over the course of 15 performances. I've also directed at Act 1 Theatre in Sumner, WA..,Dead Man's Cell Phone by Sarah Ruhl about four years ago now. I have directed small two person shows and up to a double casting situation of 86 children in a school full-length musical plus other large scale children's endevors. I enjoy coaching individuals also for auditions or playwriting. My largest community theatre musical was directing Oklahoma! with 44 adults for the very first production of Seattle's newest community theatre, The Woodland Park Players, in two wildly popular sold out shows.
I still love acting and I am beginning to audition when I have the chance or inclination. I enjoyed playing George Read in Reboot Theatre's all female version of the musical 1776. 1776 had a short run at Seattle Musical Theatre the last weekend in June 2015. And about six of years ago, I did a small part in a film called The Pony Man. I also did an instructional video with Intrepid Learning in April 2013. To learn more about me check out the photos listed here on TPS from past shows I've directed and written. For my directing and writing resumes I can send them to you on request.
This coming 18 months I will be a student again striving for my Master's of Education and teaching certification in Special Education. I've been involved in the public school system as a para-educator in special education and look forward to teaching in my own classroom soon. I probably won't be doing as many theatrical endevors as I study, but you can always contact me and see if I am up for it. I am one of those persons that often gets more done when super busy, but I do leave time for my family also as I am a wife and mother.
