I first began directing in 1996 at a private school in Bothell. With minimal theatre experience but lots of experience teaching, parent volunteer management and organization, I collaborated with a directing partner. For the next 7 years I developed all skills that go into theatre production. I had a fair amount of dance training so and did the choreography. Generally, even in private schools, there is a minimal budget for the arts so I began designing and making sets, costumes and props. In 2005, I had developed skills in almost all facet of theatre production and partnered with the Theatre Arts Department Head at Bothell High School. Together we expanded a program that went from one show (approximately 12 students) to reaching 350 students annually with an Improv Team, adjudicated Student Directed One-Acts festival, 2 straight shows, Annual Broadway Musical Review, and a year end musical that often brought in elementary and middle school students. We created a mentorship program and scholarships. At this point, it is now a career and had the skills, experience and confidence to start my own production company, LimeLight Productions. I brought in a very experienced Musical Director/Vocal Coach Michell Maas. My husband is a highly skilled craftsman so coerced him to build my sets. Fortunately, at all the schools that I produced and directed the shows, I was lucky to have a variety of talented parents who were very talented artists for scene painting and prop making, and, always a great core group that assisted with volunteer management. In 2015 I moved to Los Angeles and had the opportunity to use all my skills at The Whitefire Theatre and work with Bryan Rasmussen (who was Artistic Director of the Year in 2016), Bobby Moresco (2 time academy award winning writer/director), and Gordon Bressack (3-time Emmy winner).  I am still producing the Solofest at the Whitefire Theatre (the largest solo festival on the west coast) and hope to be able to bring a solo festival here in my hometown.  What I also bring back is access to many great new works by new and well-known writers. I look forward to working again in the theatre in a city that truly loves the arts!
