Artistic Director, Honolulu Theatre for Youth (June 1999–May 2005)
Professional actors performing for 125,000 young people and families a year on the six main islands of Hawai`i. Selection & oversight of 8-play season, including 25 premieres in 6 years; directing 3-5 plays annually; new artist development included writers’ programs and actor training; outreach; development; shared management. Developed working partnerships with Honolulu Symphony Orchestra, Hawai‘i Opera Theatre, Honolulu Academy of Arts, State Library System, Read To Me America, Japanese Cultural Center, Arizona Memorial Museum, Sex Abuse Treatment Center, Non-Violence Hotline, and other organizations. Executive Director, Rain City Projects (1991–99)
Northwest playwrights’ service organization. Published scripts sold at theatres, presented “Night of 1,000 Playwrights” and readings, published theatre journal PLATFORM, awarded travel grants; etc.

Director/producer/writer of Interactive Media (1991–1999)
Award-winning interactive educational products for Videodiscovery, Holt-Reinhardt, Scholastic, National Science Foundation, National Institutes for Health (NIH) and Edmark. Awards at New York Film Festival, National Educational Film & Video Festival, Curriculum Product News “District Choice Award,” Media Magazine “Invisions” at Comdex, Software Publisher’s Association.

Freelance writer and editor (1983–present)
Elementary and high school language arts, literature, science, and mathematics textbooks and multimedia for major publishers, including Educurious, Prentice Hall, ProQuest, Macmillan, Harcourt Brace/HBJ, Scribners, Houghton Mifflin, Ginn-Silver Burdett, McGraw Hill, and Bess Press. Senior editor for 18 months at Harcourt. Environmental engineering proposals and reports, magazine articles, arts grant proposals, press releases, documentation, and user manuals.
