Chelsea DuVall is an international playwright and theatre-maker who is currently based in Seattle, WA. She completed her Masters in Fine Arts in Acting at the California Institute of the Arts (2015), and her Bachelors of Arts in Theatre Studies, with a minor in Art History at Northern Illinois University (2010). 

Chelsea has extensive technique training and experience in the following; Meisner (acting), Fitzmaurice Voicework, Roy Hart Theatre of Voice, Linklater Voice, Alexander (body), Suzuki (movement), Droznin (movement), Grotowski (movement), Chekhov (movement) and Williamson (movement). Movement and body disciplines play a large role in her work as a performer and theatre-maker.

She was fortunate enough to study playwriting during her time at CalArts under the mentorship of playwright and poet, Douglas Kearney, and playwright, Alice Tuan. Her writing is grounded in socio-political and biographical topics, explored through poetic language, experimental theatrical devices and performative techniques. Chelsea is fiercely dedicated to multidisciplinary collaborations and to the development of new and experimental performance texts.

Chelsea has worked internationally in the development and production of new work in the following countries; Germany, Russia, Scotland, Iceland and Poland. During the 2015 Edinburgh Fringe Festival she performed the title role in Francesca, Francesca…, a new bio-fictional play about the life and art of famed photographer Francesca Woodman. From her new home in Seattle, she continues to perform, offer movement and acting coaching, and collaborate on the development of new theatrical work both in the Pacific Northwest and abroad.
