Lily Raabe is a director, educator, and theater maker who focuses on the power of collaborative, ensemble-driven theater to build enchanting spaces for non-traditional performances that challenge the status quo. While in Seattle, Raabe has hung her hat at Intiman Theatre, serving as their Development Manager while continuing to pursue freelance directing, producing, and facilitation projects in the Puget Sound region. Raabe holds her M.A. in Educational Theater (Applied Theater & Directing Focus) from New York University and her B.A. in Theater from University of Portland (Directing Focus). Recent directing and producing credits for full-scale productions include Eaten Voices (Scheduled: August 2015, The New Alchemists, Arts in Nature Festival), Sex'D: an adaptation of Arthur Schnitzler's La Ronde (Director, Handwritten Productions, the Lab@INScape), Day of the Feast (Director, DCTV, J&S Young Artists Project, NYC), To Dream of Trees (Director/Producer, Theater for the New City, Dream Up Festival), Painted Woman (Director/Producer, Venus Theater Festival - Finalist), and Eaten Voices (Director/Producer, Thespis Theater Festival – Winner of Best Play).
Raabe is also a passionate educator, seeking out unique opportunities to work within diverse communities and using theater as a vehicle of empowerment and self-expression for artists of all ages. Currently, Raabe is conducting residencies with Arts Corps and University Behind Bars. In the past, Raabe has worked with Opening Act, the New Group, Rehabilitation through the Arts (bringing theater into medium and maximum security prisons), Theater Askew's TAYPE project (devising theater with at-risk LGBTQ youth), Oregon Children's Theater, and Northwest Children's Theater.
