Richard Snyder was born and raised in Longmeadow, Massachusetts, went to Bowdoin College, and Stanford Medical School.  He has been a practicing anesthesiologist in Seattle for 25 years, awarded Best Doctor in Seattle in Seattle Magazine and elected “Outstanding Provider” by his multispecialty group.  He came to acting at age 50 when he celebrated that landmark by performing his one man show “In Search of Richard Snyder…” 90 minutes of monologs starting with childhood in the 1960’s and ending with meditations on gayness, Jewishness and the point of it all.  He wrote, produced and acted in the film short “On the Nature of Hotness” an exploration into physical attraction over the course of human existence, a multi-media comedy piece which screened in film festivals and won “Best Comedy in Short Film” at the New York City International Film Festival.  He has studied Improv at Unexpected Productions, Jet City and Upright Citizens Brigade and has organized and taught workshops at UCLA, Stanford, and international Medical Meetings on using improv and acting to improve communication in medical settings.  He is grateful for his Meisner training with Robin Lynn Smith in Seattle and his one year professional acting conservatory program at the Barrow Group in NYC with Seth Barrish and Lee Brock.  In his spare time, he loves travel to sacred sites such as Israel and Bali, hanging out with this adult children, skiing, and chorale singing.
